"And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Mathew 28:18-20)

UNDERSTANDING DISCIPLESHIP

Jesus' last words to His disciples before ascending to the Father

Jesus said, "...I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." (Matthew 16:18) Jesus will build His church; His command to us, His followers, is to make disciples.

LEARNING TO TAKE OWNERSHIP

The church was never meant to be a spectator sport

Please notice that all were scattered throughout the regions except the apostles. Therefore, those who went about preaching the word were not the apostles.

WHO IS A DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST?

TWO SIDES

OF THE

SAME COIN

THOSE WHO SET THEIR DESIRES ON KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AND NOT JUST KNOWING ABOUT HIM, BUT WHO KNOW HIM SAVINGLY, INTIMATELY, AND WANT TO SERVE HIM WELL.

WHO SHOULD DISCIPLE

OTHERS?

THOSE MEN WHO ARE FAITHFUL TO THE TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE, AND WHO ENTRUST THOSE TEACHINGS TO FAITHFUL MEN WHO WILL BE ABLE TO TEACH OTHERS ALSO.

The disciple who makes other disciples of Jesus is a primary and essential part of Christ's church.

"And on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. Some devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentation over him. But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house, and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison. Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word." (Acts 8:1-4)
